Thanks,
No I havent made anything for the Sims but Lyric and a few others are pushing me to. Yeah I like being rather quirky, it keeps us young and we can retain our sense of humor. And as for the Broadway Teapot, its one of my favorite creations. If it became a sim creation, I think it'd have to be dancing as a tabletop sculpture. Id probably hack it to make your sims go clinically insane as well :D. Thanks for the reccomendation, I'll look into it.

I use 3dsMax 8 though you have to pay a pretty penny for it, it's not the cheapest but it's by far the best in my book.

I agree that 3DS is quite good. I based my judgement on their GMAX tool, which, while not really being useful for modding things I want to do, showed me how powerful it is.
I simple cannot justify paying that much money for something that, for me, is just a hobby. I can buy a whole trailer load of cows for that much money, and keep them and sell them later for a profit. So, not owning 3DS, I wrote some Sims2 plugin support for MilkShape, which is in my acceptible price range for new toys.
But I have a relatively easy way for you to get some Sims2 models into 3DS for your rendering work, posed like you would want them (so you could put them in a chair, for example).
It involves using the latest version of MilkShape [1.8.0] and my latest UniMesh plugins [4.08]. With these two, you can import sims meshes (there are three parts needed to make a whole sims2 mesh, the body, the face and the hair), texture them and adjust the pose. You could also import props, like a chair to put them in. When you have the model like you want it, you can export it as a .obj file and place it in 3DS Max, and them get your textures and other parts of your scene ready and render it.
The Sims2 are low-poly models, but you could change that and then smooth them in 3DS. You might be able to get the models directly into 3DS with the skeleton using the SMD exporter in SimPE and pose them there, but, since I don't have 3DS Max I can't try that.
I know I can do this with Poser, and render them, but since they are low-poly models to start with, they do not render as well as the high-poly Poser models do. But I thought perhaps, with the imagination you have, you could do some cool stuff with them in 3DS.

Who else knows the program Bryce? I absolutely love it, and might post some of my creations later. Here's the link - if you've never heard of it, you should go there now and have a look around. This post is a recommendation - not an advertisement! http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/bryce/-/
