Problem w/Sim's Names

I have no idea what happened, but one day when I started up my game and entered my custom neighbourhood, I found that about half the amount of sim's names had changed! My beloved Marchoza family, for instance, had become totally messed - Tony Marchoza was suddenly Daisy Day! A lot of them had changed to names of Townies or NPCs. It was all extremely annoying, and I haven't been able to return the names to their originals. The gameplay hasn't been affected, but I'm sure nobody would like their sims to be randomly renamed! Does anyone think they can help?

can you think of a download or hack that you may have installed that could have caused this? You should be able to change their names back with Sim PE.

You can change their first names with Insimenator... but I suggest doing it with Sim PE since you're already there for the last name.

I suggest letting Lyric do some digging for you though, since she tends to be good at this kinda stuff :D

Hey! I'm new to this forum, but I have the same problem! It didn't occur in a custom neighborhood (cause i don't have any) but it happened in all of them! Any family that i have created in any neighborhood has had their names changed to that of an NPC, however the families that came with the game remain untouched. :'( :'(

I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!!! Go to:

The above link will take you to a page detailing how to fix the game via a small registry edit. I know you may see regedit and go AAAH! But it seriously works. All that is required is changing the language.

For example, I actidentally installed H&M Fashion Stuff in English UK, instead of US. As a result my sims names changed AND the clock changed to 24hr time format.

I changed the Language 'Value Data' to '1' (the number that reflects English US), and changed the LanguageName to 'English US'. This fixed the sims name problem and changed the clock back to 12hr tim format.

Anyway, the above link details how to do it - its very easy!
