I just got Sims 2 on my new computer ( a Dell windows XP thats faster then my old Sony XP from a few years before Sims 2 came out) and Sims works, Sims2 works, Sim city 4 works

Sims 2 Pack Clean Installer works but not on all files (I need a tip there too)

but when I click on Sims Body shop it doesn't even open. Im going to try and figure the problem out but if I cant make it work maybe you can give me a tip? maybe some thing simple Im overlooking? Its liek I click on the icon and nothing pops up. it doesnt even TRY to run its like clicking is not doing any thinng at all. has this happened before?

and if you need to know more details about my computer, walk me threw how to look those details up

update: I tried a 2nd file exstractter and it says a lot of my files are curept or bad. what factors could make that happen?

hey hon, Im really not sure why files go bad. But you can try this if youre having issues in body shop-

If you have a bad download - try moving your entire downloads folder to your desktop- start body shop. If it runs, then you need to find some article of clothing or hair or skin or what not that is causing the issue. (If this is the problem Ill help you when you post again with this part)

You can also try this.

Go to My Documents/Ea Games/Sims 2/Thumbnails
and delete
CASThumbnails.package

Body shop will take extra time to load the next time after but it can fix some problems with loading.
Let me know if either of those two solutions help you.

Go to My Documents/Ea Games/Sims 2/Thumbnails
and delete
CASThumbnails.package didn't do any thing (I didn't empty the recycling bin when I tried it and when it still didn't load I restored that file to it's spot)

moving my entire My Documents/Ea Games/Sims 2/ downloads folder to a folder out side of the EA game foulder didn't work ether if thats what you emnt by "downloads" folder so I undid that move after it failed. I wish I could get the problemb on tape and on youtube.

now here is the other question. I have faces I want people to make and images I want placed on shirts , wall pepers and in picture frames since body shop's not working would you or maybe an otehr on this form be willing to make not just my face but the faces of other people? I have a good list of faces I was going to make and now I can't. so with such a request could I put it here for you to do? or should I make a "Sim me and my friends" thread?

also how long does the averge person take to do and post a request?

Hi hon, I can do paintings and maybe some shirts for you. IM an absolutely hideous simmer tho. We don't have many active creators here, but our request forum is there incase anyone comes alone willing to fill a request.
If youd like shirts and paintings tho just PM me the images you want and I can do those no problem for you :)
About the body shop issue, Im still not really sure why its working like that for you unless your installation was corrupt, and I do not like suggesting anyone uninstall and reinstall their games. But its not a downloads or thumbnail issue so it has to be somewhere buggered in the program itself. Sorry I couldn't help you more with that.

Difficult to say just what the problem is, but... are you using any expansion or stuff packs? If so, and you have Pets or Seasons, you need to run the Body Shop installed by the newest expansion, NOT the stuff packs (same as the game itself)! If that's not it, try increasing your pagefile (virtual memory): right-click My Computer, select Properties, then Advanced; choose Settings, Advanced, Change; this will show a list of your partitions click each in turn to see how much free space there is - choose the INTERNAL partition with the most space (does NOT have to be C: ), select Custom, enter at Minimum the larger of current total allocated or recommended and at Maximum a higher amount that's less than the free space, then click Set; if this is a different partition, select the original one, select No paging file, then Set; you may then click OK and restart the computer. If no partition has enough free space to increase the paging, you will need to make the space by deleting or compressing files or resizing the partitions.
If neither of these solves it, it probably is a faulty installation and you'll need to do a clean reinstall:
First, make sure you have your entire My Documents\EA Games\Sims2 folder (your saved games) backed up to somewhere safe, preferably a different partition/drive, then uninstall everything, base game last, run the Clean Installer, and delete both the original My Documents\EA Games\Sims2 folder and anything remaining of the installation folders, so all you've got left is your saved games backup and the zip/rar/pack installation files (or the expanded versions) for your custom content. Next, reinstall the main game only and try it and its Body Shop; if both work, reinstall any packs one at a time in the following order: University, Nightlife, Open For Business, Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, Pets, testing each and its Body Shop before installing the next, then Celebration! Stuff - test using Pets game and Body Shop, Seasons - test its own game and Body Shop, and H&M Fashion Stuff - test using Seasons game and Body Shop; if you have (Festive) Holiday Stuff, install that once the rest are working. You should now have a working Sims2 game and Body Shop, using Seasons if you have it until Bon Voyage comes out, but without saved games or custom content.
If so, reinstall the custom content from the original installation files, NOT the backup folders, and test again; if still OK, copy the backup saved stuff one folder at a time, but NOT Config, Downloads or Saved Sims; compare these three with the new ones and copy only files that are not present in the new versions. If any of the custom content reports as corrupt during reinstallation, see if it can still be downloaded from the original source and use that instead. If you're still having problems after all this, it may be your hardware, either faulty or simply not powerful enough - more speed alone is not enough, graphics and sound cards and memory need to be up to spec too.
Hope some of this helps.
