Ok guys bear with me. This is another rant I have wanted to post for agessss.
I'll be big enough to admit that I do watch some of this crap on tv. I just think sitcoms are beyond dull anymore.
The one channel tho that has me appalled at the stupidity of the viewers is MTV. Now they have so called reality tv shows, but their dumbification even extends to their "game-shows"
I've actually analyzed these because, I have no life. Anyone who watches these or knows of them should appreciate the following.
The first show that got me thinking about how god damned ILLOGICAL everything about it was "The X factor"
The premise of the show is this:
Two couples are brought to a fancy resort. One person in each of these couples used to date each other. The host then suddenly surprises the 4 some with the fact that the two ex's will be staying behind and spending the weekend together while their current companions are sent home.
The companions act huffy but then are brought back, put into a room of their own to spy all weekend on their partners to see if they cheat.
Ok simple enough premise. But heres what had me wondering. WHO CALLED THE GOD DAMNED SHOW? How can all 4 people act surprised, like they had just NOOOOOO idea that this splitting up was going to happen? Atleast oneo f the 4 people in the relationships had to call the show, either to test themselves or their partner. So all of the shock and surprise is total crap.
The one however that pisses me off the most is "Parental Control"
Serioulsy MTV must think America is the DUMBEST group of people on the planet.
You have two parents, who hate their childs boyfriend or girlfriend. So they interview about ten potential dates and send their kid out with two of them in the hopes that their child dumps the bf/gf for someone new.
Atleast here theres no fake surprise. The parents of course contacted the show. Ok now heres where it gets tricky.
These "contestants" (for lack of better words) come from all over the country supposedly ok?
Yet ALL of the interviews take place in the same exact studio. Which would lead one to believe one of two things.
A) This studio is located at some base center of operations- Probably New York.
B) This is a fake set that can be moved around and restructured- whereever...
Ok going on premise A.... If the parents are flown to New York to interview a dozen or so dates for their child... either all of these daters must be local to the studio. Or MTV pays to fly out a dozen people from the parents home town as well to interview in New York.
Yeah I doubt that is whats happening. So if they are local to the studio location, why would anyone dump their boyfriend for someone who lives across the country?????? Why would parents go on this show to interview replacement daters for their kid that they will NEVER see again?
Does MTV truly think that people are so dumb that they will wtach any drivel they put on the screen and not pick up on how totally illogical the premise of the whole thing is?
It makes absolutely no sense to me and If anyone can figure it out please let me know!
